Brave Dove Woodcraft

We had the pleasure of the Hollands staying with us a few weeks back. They were a delight to talk with, make music with, watch puppets with and more. On Saturday Dereck had the honor of playing music with them as they performed for Blacksoil. We were sad to see them go, but they took a little something with them- A Brave Dove Uke! Thats right, Graciana will be playing a Brave Dove limited edition Uke, the last of its kind. Just wanted to share that with yall!

A big thank you to everyone who came out to see us at the Great Lakes Folk Fest.  We had a blast, despite all the rain.  We are already looking forward to next year! Exciting things are on the books for us,

Thursday we are being interviewed by the the State News.

We will be setting up our booth soon! Come and see us at the Great Lake Folk Fest here in East Lansing. Our tent is right near the city hall stage, on Abbot Road.

We have been super busy getting ready for this weekend’s festival.

We have a couple new Ukes, a mandolin , and maybe a banjo!

We just got accepted as vendors at the Great Lakes Folk Festival!!!

“This unique fusion of arts fair, music festival, county fair, multi-ethnic festival, hands-on activity workshops and celebration of cultural heritage will be held Aug 12-14, 2011 in downtown East Lansing.  There are four performance stages (including one with a 2,400 sq. ft. dance floor), children’s hands-on activities, crafts demonstrations, and Green Arts marketplace. In addition, there are special programs every year, which feature some aspect of traditional culture. “

This years theme is “Everything old is green again”  and they will be featuring re-skilling workshops (teaching “Old skills” like canning and soap making) and an emphasis on recycling, reusing and general good stewardship.  We think that we will fit right in!

Needless to say, for anyone who knows this fest, we are STOKED to be accepted as vendors.  This is one of the highlights of our year, and we are honored to be slinging strings there.

Now, back to the workshop, there is aLOT of building to be done before then!!!
